User Info: SquallvsCloud I could see that. Urahara has the backround that could make for a good villain. Even his shikai and bankai are a little more on the darker side. However Im glad he made the change, I thought it was such a good twist, one that I didnt see coming. It made the whole SS arc for me. You can say what youd like about the rest of the series but the Soul Society arc is one of my favorites out there.

He couldve, and maybe should have ended it there and I would have been content. Is 2b hot? MySnakesSolid- "I'd let her self destruct on my face". He wears green robes that give him an old-timey look, and his long outer robe has a series of white diamond patterns along the hem. This robe mirrors that of a Soul Reaper Captain; that is, the white haori robes that all Captains wear! These Captain robes have a row of black diamonds along the bottom, and Kisuke's robe is a throwback to his own Captain robe during his Gotei 13 days.

Generic Soul Reapers have yet to unlock the full power of their zanpakuto, which will resemble a simple katana, nothing more. But once Shikai is learned, it can morph into a new form. Kisuke, like Ichigo, has a straightforward Shikai that modifies his sword's shape during combat. And like Ichigo, Kisuke's own sword seems to always be in Shikai mode, as we never see it resemble an ordinary katana. Kisuke's sword is named Benihime, or "red princess," and it can unleash powerful energy blasts that can take on an Espada.

Kisuke always has some new invention in mind, and during his Soul Reaper days, he added a useful item to the Soul Reaper tool kit: the gigai! This is a soulless artificial body, and a Soul can place themselves inside it and walk around the human world as a flesh and blood mortal.

Early in Bleach , Rukia spends most of her time in one, and when it starts malfunctioning, she goes straight to Urahara Shoten to have it looked over. Kisuke is one busy guy. While his invention of the gigai was very useful and became standard procedure, he had another, much more controversial invention to claim as his own. As a result of studying the nature of hollows, Kisuke sought a way to break down the barrier between hollows and Soul Reapers to unlock ultimate power.

The result was the Hogyoku, or "breakdown sphere," but it was just a prototype. The ambitious Sosuke Aizen, meanwhile, loved the idea and wanted to steal the Hogyoku for himself, so Kisuke hid it inside Rukia's soul. This prompted Aizen to set up Rukia for execution and thus get his hands on the Hogyoku at last. Both Kisuke and Aizen go way back, and they crossed paths in the Turn Back the Pendulum arc, set years ago.

At that time, Aizen was a Lieutenent serving under Captain Shinji Hirako, but his devilish schemes were already underway. After Rukia declines the offer of an overhaul of the Gigai, Urahara asks about payment, and Rukia hands her Denreishinki to him, planning to pay with Bounty Points.

Urahara finds she has received 5, Kan for the defeat of Shrieker. Urahara, telling her that her package has arrived, [38] sends Ururu to fetch it, who returns and presents a Gikongan dispenser to Rukia. Urahara later discovers that Ururu brought the wrong box, which contains Kon.

Stopping Jinta from punishing Ururu, he says it is his fault for not disposing of it. Urahara, comforting her, says that they are a team and he will take care of it. The four set out to recover Kon. Rukia, snatching Kon back, says he is not defective and she is happy with the merchandise. Urahara states that they will deny any involvement or affiliation if there is any trouble with Kon. When Ichigo and Rukia are restrained by the security personnel, Kisuke, transforming Ichigo into his Shinigami form, tells him not to be distracted by dealing with the Earth-bound Plus.

When Rukia asks what he is scheming, Urahara states he brought Ururu and Jinta to see the filming, as they love Don Kanonji's show, and that he ran over when he heard Rukia's shrieks. A security personnel asks Kisuke if he knows Rukia and Ichigo, prompting him to set off a memory erasing device in the guard's face. As they flee the scene, Rukia reprimands him for using Soul Society's tools so freely, but Kisuke states that he had no choice, as he did not want to get mixed up in her trouble.

Some time later, Rukia shows up at the Urahara Shop, irate that Kisuke has not answered her calls. He apologizes, saying that they have been busy and the store has often been left empty. Saying he has not heard of them for a long time, he proceeds to reveal their history to Rukia.

Trying to ease their fears and tension, Urahara states that they have a choice now where there was none, and it is up to them to choose to act or not. They are interrupted by Tessai, who states the Kuumon has begun its convergence, noting the preparations are complete. Urahara asks Orihime and Sado to come along, as he wishes to show them the world they are about to enter and the enemies they must fight.

The next day, Yoruichi visits Urahara, and they discuss the Shinigami chasing Rukia. Urahara gives him an opportunity to go to Soul Society under one condition: he must train with him for ten days to fight properly. Urahara knocks an impatient Ichigo to the ground, saying if he were to go in his current condition, Ichigo will be as good as dead. He further notes that with his current skill, he wouldn't stand a chance in Soul Society.

Urahara states Soul Society commonly gives a one month grace period before carrying out executions. He notes it will take ten days to train him and a further seven days to open the door to Soul Society, giving Ichigo 13 days in Soul Society to save Rukia. The next day, the fully healed Ichigo begins his training with Urahara, who takes him to the training area underneath his shop. Urahara, separating Ichigo's soul from his body, has Ururu battle him so Ichigo can regain some of his speed.

Urahara, initiating his Shikai, [69] easily overwhelms Ichigo. Urahara, admitting Ichigo is a scary kid, states he has passed test three. When Ichigo and his companions are gone, Urahara touches the Senkaimon, which repels his hand. He notes it is now up to Ichigo. Once Ichigo and company return, Urahara gathers the group on a flying piece of paper and transports them all home.

Removing his hat, he apologizes to them for his actions. After receiving an elbow to the face by Ichigo, he promises to apologize to Rukia.

Note: Events occurring in this arc are only in the anime and do not constitute canon material. The next day, Urahara decides the two should go and investigate the Bount Mansion. He has Ichigo take the Modified Souls home with him to develop Bount countermeasures. Urahara and Yoruichi protect Ichigo from Yammy. One night, Urahara stands in front of his shop, expressing concern about what is going on in Karakura Town, when Yoruichi approaches him. Urahara, nullifying Yammy's Cero, attacks him, but Ulquiorra deflects the attack, and the two Arrancar retreat.

Urahara, observing their training, muses on how fighting against a Bankai will increase Chad's powers, and expresses concern about the nature of Chad's powers. When Orihime arrives, he shares with her the details of the coming war between Soul Society and Aizen as they watch Renji and Chad battle. He asks her to stay out of the upcoming battle because, with Tsubaki having been destroyed by Yammy, she has no means of attack, and thus should not participate in the battle.

Chad disagrees, saying she helped in Soul Society and her healing and defensive abilities are more important than attacking. Urahara reminds him that Orihime is still a Human, and that the 4th Division will be on the front line, as they possess both healing and combat abilities.

Orihime, agreeing with Urahara, thanks him for being honest with her. Urahara about to end the fight with Yammy Llargo. Wonderweiss fires a Bala at him, something Urahara has never seen before.

Yammy fires a volley of Bala at him from above, [84] but Urahara, using a portable Gigai to evade the attack, taunts him. He explains that since he has seen him fire off tons of those blasts, he will not be hit by them anymore. Urahara shows him the portable Gigai he used as a decoy. Enraged, Yammy begins to fire a Bala, but Urahara, effortlessly negating the blast, reveals he has analyzed the Bala's spirit particle composition and Yammy's muscle movements, allowing him to cancel the attack.

After their departure, Urahara reveals he is aware of the presence of Ichigo's three friends, and that he left the store unlocked so they could enter. He persuades a reluctant Kon to take over Hollow hunting while Ichigo is away. Urahara straps a special wrist watch on Kon, which will help him transform into the Karakura-Raizer. Sending Kon out to fight Hollows, he monitors his progress from his shop and communicates with him via the watch.

As the team dispatches the low level Hollows plaguing the town, an Arrancar appears in a giant floating fortress. Urahara, analyzing the fortress, reveals it is made up of Hollows fused together, and concludes that to destroy it, they must strike at its core.

He sends the group to fight the Arrancar and destroy the fortress. He destroys the remains of the Hollow fortress as it starts to crash to the town below. As Kon and the Humans fall asleep, Urahara, thanking them for their efforts, reveals he used the time to set up the Tenkai Kecchu without being noticed.

These include creating a Garganta to allow captains to enter Hueco Mundo , [93] and making preparations for the coming war by making it possible for the Gotei 13 to battle in Karakura Town.

He accomplishes this by creating a device called the Tenkai Kecchu , which allows him to swap the real Karakura Town with an elaborate duplicate made by the 12th Division.

Urahara, glaring down at Aizen, admits it is true that he was unable to master it in the past. Urahara reveals he placed seals on Aizen to block off the Reiatsu vents which all Shinigami have in their wrists.

As Aizen is enveloped in a column of light, Urahara tells him he will be incinerated by his own Reiatsu from the inside out. Urahara attacks Aizen as Isshin comes at him from behind, but he easily blocks both of their attacks. However, this is revealed to be yet another trap, as Urahara and Isshin have entangled Aizen, forcing him into an awkward position.

As Aizen demands to know what is going on, Yoruichi , wearing armor developed by Urahara, attacks Aizen from above. Urahara yells for Yoruichi to move away as Aizen quickly recovers. After Urahara and Yoruichi get into two minor playful arguments about the quality of the armor, Aizen states it is all part of Urahara's plan. Urahara replies that he thought Aizen was no longer cautious, but Aizen counters, saying it is just observation, as Urahara is the only being within Soul Society whose intellect surpasses his own, and he still has interest in him.

Yoruichi, Urahara, and Isshin take turns attacking Aizen, [] but Aizen soon defeats the trio. Aizen asks why someone of Urahara's intellect allows himself to be controlled by " that thing ".

Urahara understands Aizen is referring to the Soul King , realizing he has seen it. He tells Aizen it is the "lynchpin", and without its existence, Soul Society would be rent asunder. Later, Ichigo asks Urahara where everyone went, to which Urahara replies that they went home. He further states it seems as though they wanted to speak with him, but coming over and talking to him seemed like an equally difficult task to all of them.

Ichigo asks him if he wiped their memories, but Urahara tells him he did not this time. Urahara reveals Aizen's seal structure was transported to Seireitei, and the details of his disposal will be immediately decided by the Central 46 Chambers. Ichigo gets a solemn look on his face, prompting Urahara to ask why. Ichigo states he does not really know himself, causing Urahara to remind him he risked his life protecting the world and everyone's lives, and defeated Aizen.

He further states that Ichigo did the right thing. Ichigo recounts his thoughts about Aizen to Urahara. An injured Rukia is taken to the Urahara Shop, where Urahara explains that he has asked Yoruichi to look into what is happening in Soul Society. After Rukia regains consciousness, Urahara asks her to explain what happened. After hearing what Yoruichi has discovered in Seireitei , Urahara asks Ichigo if he noticed anything different about Zangetsu. Urahara agrees and opens a Senkaimon for Ichigo, sending him back with Yoruichi.

They show everyone flirty pictures of them in phone booths, which Urahara enjoys. Rukia tells Urahara she has received orders to appear before the SRDI with Ichigo, but was unable to communicate with Soul Society to confirm the order.

He asks about the status of the girl whom Kon found, and Ichigo tells him she is still asleep, and that he is contemplating going to Soul Society. Kisuke informs them Yoruichi went there three days ago and has not been heard from since, despite her intent to return immediately.

He advises Ichigo against traveling, due to his condition, and reminds him to avoid overexerting himself, as it will quicken the loss of his powers. As they enter a Senkaimon, he tells them to be careful. Later, he is surprised when Ichigo's Reiatsu suddenly disappears [] and informs the others of this. Sado asks Urahara if they should go to Soul Society, but he is told he cannot. Later, Urahara, picking up a faint signal from Ichigo's Reiatsu, and recovers him from the Dangai, finding fragments of data on the development of Mod-Souls in the process.

Urahara later talks about the improbable nature of Ichigo's retrieval from the Dangai, stating what Ichigo described would normally be impossible. Urahara resolves to explore the matter further, but states it will take time. He explains that Inaba is so interested in the Dangai because of the Mod-Souls information. Urahara speculates he used this information to create the clones of the Gotei 13 captains, and Nozomi confirms his observation.

When he asks her whether she knew all along, Nozomi reveals Inaba developed the Mod-Souls. Nozomi reveals his past in the Project Spearhead, allowing Urahara to understand Inaba's full motivation. They wonder what Inaba wants with Nozomi. Tessai, informing Urahara that several Reigai have been caught in their trap, asks if they should proceed to the next step.

Urahara agrees, and they prepare to freeze space. After Urahara treats Ichigo's wounds, everyone gathers at his shop to discuss their next move.

Kisuke explains that it is probably because Inaba cannot create a Reigai of a being with Hollow powers, and thus found Ichigo to be a dangerous variable. Kisuke theorizes about how to restore Ichigo's powers.

Since Ichigo is currently without Reiatsu, he will be able to move freely in the Dangai, making him the only one who can get the Reishi. Kisuke, giving him a Reishi collector, puts Ichigo into the Dangai. Ichigo later emerges unharmed with the Reishi he collected. Kisuke asks the others to enter the Dangai first as decoys while Kisuke, Ichigo, and Kon take an alternate entrance, as Kisuke's Reiatsu-concealing cloak and Ichigo's lack of Reiatsu will allow them to move undetected.

Urahara notes he will not be able to restore Ichigo's Hollow powers, and since he is not a Reigai, it may create a strain on Ichigo's soul. Before the process is completed, the system begins to self-destruct. Ichigo, swallowing the Mod-Soul, partly restores his Reiatsu. However, Kisuke notes the process is unstable, causing Ichigo's inner Hollow to begin going wild. Kisuke is certain Inaba has a back-up facility elsewhere which they can use to stabilize Ichigo.

Conducting some research in the SRDI and 10th Division, he notes an inconsistency between Inaba and Nozomi's respective stories about their pasts. He concludes they were one Mod-Soul split in two from the Reiatsu of the true developer of Mod-Souls. After defeating the Reigai guarding the facility, Urahara and Kon find Yushima in a catatonic state.

Analyzing it, he is able to track down Inaba's true lab. Arriving, they find it is being guarded by a Reigai of Urahara himself. He instructs Kon to sneak in while he faces the Reigai. Later, Mayuri teams up with Urahara to defeat Reigai-Urahara. Following Aizen's defeat, Urahara's life returns to normal, though he is no longer a wanted criminal by Soul Society. As Karin is leaving with the materials she bought on one such visit, Kisuke unsuccessfully tries to sell her extra items.

When she offers to pay, he refuses, saying he owes Ichigo a lot, and asks how Ichigo is and Karin's feelings as well. After she answers, he tells her to let him know if anything were to happen, and he will prepare "something".

However, they both move away before Ichigo can learn the purpose of their meeting. Later, at the Urahara Shop, Urahara, finishing with something, says it is the last one and asks if Isshin is sure.

Isshin says he is getting annoying, asking how many times Urahara needs to ask that. Urahara replies it is a matter of whether or not a parent robs his son of his future, so it is common sense to confirm it several times. Isshin says he knows and he is sure. Urahara says they will make their final move, and an unidentified figure, stepping forth, tells Urahara to do it.

Urahara donated some of his Reiatsu as well. When Orihime and Chad start to break from Tsukishima 's ability, Urahara and Isshin knock the two out. Urahara, catching Orihime, remarks it was easy to knock them out since Tsukishima loosened them up, thanking him.
