I've done it for as long as I can remember. It's been so long I can't remember why i started it, but my mom says its because we would say dad times trying to get his attention and he would never answer so we would finally just say Billy and he would respond. Some parents prefer to be called by their name rather than dad or mom. It's not necessarily a disrespectful thing.
