The average player will likely also peruse a fair amount of extra content, from secondary missions to side venues across the map, and this can push the total time up to 23 hours instead. This makes it the shortest game in the Fallout series by a significant margin. The next numbered entry in the series, Fallout 2 , leaves players with quite a bit more content to explore overall. The main storyline alone takes over 30 hours to beat, which is more than both the main storyline plus extra content in the previous Fallout game.
Players who take more time to fully explore the RPG's offerings and hidden areas on Fallout 2 's map will instead find themselves spending around 48 hours in the game's world, which puts it on par with most of the other entries in the series.
Fallout 3 sees another substantial increase in playtime, perhaps due to the technological leaps forward from the previous two entries. However, the main story of Fallout 3 alone is a fair bit shorter than that seen in Fallout 2.
On average, it takes nearly 23 hours to beat the primary storyline of Fallout 3 , compared to Fallout 2 's 30 hours. Although, the amount of additional content to explore across the Wasteland can push that total up to around 54 hours if players take on side quests and explore more areas in the Wasteland.
The amount of unique characters and storytelling present throughout the landscape of Fallout 3 makes this a worthwhile venture to undertake, no matter what playstyle is preferred. Although Fallout: New Vegas may not be a strictly numbered title in the Fallout series, many consider it a mainline entry regardless. This is due largely to how similar its gameplay is to other Fallout games and the large amount of story content it possesses.
The highly-praised main story of Fallout: New Vegas takes about 28 hours to complete for most playstyles. Don't worry about time, you'll not have the best experience. Fallout 3 for me was exteremly enjoyable, there are so many things you can do, and the world is huge and detailed.

Eventually I went back and was more focussed on getting through things quickly; Getting achievements, finishing missions, etc. I used the Fallout 3 Wikia to make a note of where the locations that would help where, too.
I did less exploration, but yes, I did enjoy it. For me I loved the detail of the world, and really enjoyed exploring. I didn't have to try and ended up with new quests added, but it was the exploring that was most fun for me, the quests gave me reasons to explore certain areas. If you are going to start at fallout 3 now, enjoy! Screenshot of the Week. Submit your photo Hall of fame. Featured on Meta. Now live: A fully responsive profile.
