Why is chewing gum in school good

Preliminary research suggests that regular chewing can help you remember names, make you thinner, whiten teeth, etc. Teachers may outlaw chewing gum in class, but chewing gum in class makes kids smarter.

How could that be? Chewing causes our hearts to pump more blood to our brain than it usually does. More blood carries noggin-nourishing oxygen and that will help brain function better. It also increases the glucose level, making the student more alert. The rhythmic chewing also increases attention. Chewing should be allowed especially during big tests. Other positive side effects of chewing gum in school include the distraction from talking and other nonproductive activities.

In addition, students who have fewer restrictions placed upon them often tend to be more content within the classroom. As a result they become less easily distracted and are therefore more productive. The main negative aspect of chewing gum in school is the disruption that it can cause within a lesson.

The passing around of packets leads to reduced concentration levels. The noise created from chewing gum can also be a distraction to other pupils. Sure the pop of bubble gum can be a bit louder, but all you have to do is tell the students not to blow bubbles. They should respect the rules because after all they are being allowed to chew gum.

Perhaps if you are going to an assembly or presentation, then gum should not be allowed out of politeness for the guest speaker. There are people who say that gum is terrible for your teeth, but there is also sugar-free gum and gum that helps whiten your teeth. While they are not necessarily healthy, they are better then most regular gum. My orthodontist actually told me to get sugar-free gum and put it on my braces so the metal wouldn? If you can? Studies have shown that peppermint flavored anything can help reduce the tendency to make small careless mistakes.

Gum might help you relax when studying before a test. Then during the test you might find it easier to remember the answers. Chewing gum may also help you focus during the test. So talk to your teachers and persuade your principal to allow students to be able to chew gum in class. If we were allowed to chew gum, it would help us stay focused and stay on task. This means that a majority of the teachers and students are in favor of having gum with some guidlines. Another reason, is gum is something that is easy and cheap It can be provided through the school and they can have specific schedules.

Gum has many reasons why it should be allowed. Once again, another reason students with gum will go above and beyond with it is it has the ability to releive stress and anxiety. Research has shown that chewing on a piece of gum can releive stress and anxiety and increase alertness and blood flow in the brain. For many people, chewing gum helps them do better in school which is why it should be aloud.

Kenneth Allen showed through his research that gum helps your memory which makes you do better on your tests. The reasoning for this is that chewing gum helps to release insulin into the bloodstream which affects how well your memory works. Since gum chewing helps you brain think better and gives you better memory, kids should be allowed to chew it during class. Schools around the nation ban soda and candy from their campus while other schools allow their students to have candy and soda.

Other schools do allow their students to drink soda and candy because their students often crave different things instead of just school food. Through my perspectives I say we should not ban soda and candy.

Gum can also ease away some stress and anxiety. The act of chewing gum also provides constant sensory input to the muscles in the jaw and ears and we find it helps children to concentrate better.

In some schools, however, it is left up to the teachers to decide the rules. Most schools seem to think it is a bad habit to let students chew gum as some students can be irresponsible with gum. However, in middle school I think we should look at the rules closer. I would ask for schools to implement the permission to chew gum and install gum dispensers in cafeterias and commons for students.

Obesity is one of the things that america needs to work in there are 1 in 3 american kids that are obese i would like to stop that. By having healthier school lunches we can stop kids from being obese. There are many both oral and other health benefits correlated with chewing sugarless gum. Some of these oral benefits include fresher breath, protection from cavities, improvement of eating habits, increasing of salivary flow. Obviously, chewing sugar-free gum prohibits bacteria, causing better breath, stability from cavities, prevention of tooth decay, and stronger tooth enamel.
